A member asked:

Is dysautonomia common in people with lupus? is it because the autoimmune system "attacked" the autonomic nervous system?

Good question. I would go to uptodate.com & pay a few $ & read all about both lupus and dysautonomia. Have seen many with Lupus & high blood pressure due to immune driven kidney disease. Do not recall seeing any lupus patients with dysautomomia. Or patients with dysautomomia who had lupus. Another option is to go to pubmed.com & search for lupus AND dysautomomia & see what world Med lit finds

Lupus attacking brain would cause lupus cerebritis, peripheral nerves a variety of peripheral neuropathies. The autonomic nervous system can be attacked directly and indirectly, such as kidney damage causing hypertension, but both blood pressure and cardiac rhythm disturbances can be seen. GI problems such as nausea/vomiting, and diarrhea have been noted.
