The higher end (99th percentile) of the QTc interval for adult males is 470ms, and 480ms in adult women. QTc prolongation, if acquired, can be caused by certain drugs, low potassium, low magnesium, and low calcium, as well as structural heart disease. The QTc must be taken in the right clinical context (symptoms), risk factors, and with a physician's report on a 12-lead EKG.
