Sounds like a tear to one of the knee ligaments which support the knee joint — possibly the meniscus based on your description. I’d start with ice, Ibuprofen, and book an appointment with your primary care doc for a physical exam to clinch the diagnosis.

One probably injured a ligament in the knee. Anything from Strain to Rupture is possible. A visit with PCP or ER for XRay and other Imaging studies of the knee is needed for resolution
