A member asked:

Are nose strips for blackheads effective? how often should they be used? is there a way to close the pores on my nose from them?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Pore strips: Pore strips that supposedly lift out blackheads actually lift out microscopic hairs, called trichostasis spinulosa. There is no evidence that they are effective for blackheads which are a form of acne. Medications for blackheads include benzoyl peroxide, retinoids (adapalene, tretinoin, tazarotene) and sulfur-based topicals. Please talk to your dermatologist about what medication is best for you.
