A member asked:

I was diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome (through history and bending wrists). my main symptom is when typing at my computer for 40+ minutes , my palms turn red and my hands feel very hot, burning even (rather than tingling). is this really cts?

CTS is diagnosed best by EMG . Consider erythromelalgia. Break every 20 minutes for 1 -2 minutes, ergonomically position keyboard ( as a pianist on piano- wrists NOT upward ) - may need a separate keyboard if on laptop. While carpal tunnel syndrome can usually be diagnosed by history and clinical exam, your symptoms sound atypical. It would be best to get an EMG/NCV study to more specifically examine the median nerve at the carpal tunnel. In the interim, you should take more frequent breaks from your computer work.
