A member asked:

Does a pulmonary embolism cause low sp02, and high resting pulse rate? also without dvt first is it uncommon?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

A pulmonary embolism which is large enough to cause oxygen %'s to drop, an increase of compensatory pulse rate is expected. DVT's are not always symptomatic, and may shower the lungs with smaller clots which will cause low SpO2 and tachycardia. A hematologist physician should be managing this clinically.
