Generally true, but there are exceptions. It takes up to 8 weeks (maybe even 12 weeks on rare occasions) for syphilis blood tests to turn positive.

I've read that Treponemal tests can only detect syphilis after a chancre has appeared, anything before that could be a false negative. I've tested at 8 weeks and 90 days (non-reactive), no chancres that I've noticed. Are these conslusive?
