I have sinus congestion but pain in only one ear. its not infected. is it common or normal to have pain in one ear only from sinus pressure?

A painful ear is not a characteristic of sinus congestion. If the ear drum isn't inflamed, the ear pain could be from blockage of the eustachian tube, which goes from the upper nasal passage to the middle ear, from congestion in the upper nasal membrane. In this case, a nasal decongestant spray should help.
