There are a couple reasons. Their are shared neural pathways between a part of kidney "renal pelvis" as well as from the GI tract (stomach and intestines). Because of the overlap, the brain can interpret pressure from renal pelvis as coming from GI tract. Also, renal colic can be extremely painful... Severe pain alone often can lead to nausea and vomiting.

Any painful process can induce vomiting, eye pain from glaucoma, chest pain from heart attack, gall stones etc.
