Yearly with your checkup is enough. If something important happens you notice discomfort and swelling.

Agree with Dr Ferguson. At your yearly visit would be fine especially if you are well, and if you happen to see a specialist at other times, they can also check. If you feel that a neck gland (lymph node) is larger than usual or painful/tender, please have your doctor check at that time also. If you have other symptoms like extreme weight loss, extreme fatigue, have them checked sooner.
