Many physicians and gastroenterologists may disagree, but in cases like yours I often recommend taking senokot regularly if there is no bowel pathology and other tried & true measures to combat chronic constipation weren't helping. I haven't seen any serious side effects although bowel dependency is a given. As always, however, your physician is best to advise & guide you.
