If possible you can ask you partner to observe you or you can video yourself during sleep to confirm that you only jerk one of your extremities not the whole body or if you have any apneic episode. Jerking of the extremity during sleep (nocturnal myoclonus) is usually benign but it may need to be diagnosed and treated if it disrupts your sleep pattern which can cause symptoms during the daytime.

Some considerations: 1. Nocturnal seizure activity (need an EEG to further explore.) 2. Periodic Limb Movements of Sleep, AKA "nocturnal myoclonus") (overnight sleep study helps) 3. REM sleep disorder. (Unlikely due to age but sleep study will help) See sleep specialist or a neurologist to proceed further.
