Ulnar n. entrapment: The ulnar nerve gives sensation to the 3rd-5th fingers, and innervates the small, fine motor muscles of the hand. It can become entrapped at the elbow, causing weakness in the fingers with loss of fine motor control, and tingling or numbness in the fingers. It is the nerve you hit when you strike your "funny bone" at the elbow. It isn't usually a cause of symptoms at the armpit.

Neuropathy: Ulnar neuropathy symptoms can be caused by compression of the nerve roots by cervical spine discs or spurs, or compression of the brachial plexus in the armpit or compression at the elbow where the ulnar nerve is most vulnerable.
