I would ignore the "pre-diabetic" interpretation of this test in an 8 yo. That idea applies to overweight adults for a type of diabetes not seen in an 8 yo. Discuss this with his doc.

It is important to reduce his intake of sugary drinks and sweets. Substitute whole fruit for fruit juice, promote healthy eating habits, including lean sources of protein and vegetables. Dairy products such as yogurt, cheese and milk are recommended. Monitor for symptoms of increased urination, thirst, weight loss, vomiting and nausea. Please follow up with your Pediatrician.
