A member asked:

My friend has had the cardio procedure to get rid of her afib and it's not working ..because she has other conditions. she's not a candidate for the ablation. can you think of anything that would help besides the cardio version?i?

Many of my elderly patients did nicely with chronic a fib as they didn't want procedures performed and were willing to take anticoagulant therapy faithfully as well as antiarrhythmic medications that controlled either the rhythm itself or the heart rate. We used digoxin carefully and effectively. Most of the more modern cardiologists & physicians will not use this medication however

A major risk factor is not enough potassium in diet and low body K. I would help her get the Cronometer app and see how much she eats a day. Ask if she has ever had a low blood potassium (K).
