A member asked:

Is it possible to have an infection in my body (for 2+ yrs.) covered with biofilm, which has prevented me from getting "seriously" ill? who can help

A biofilm?: Biofilms feature prominently in infections in necrotic bone, infected sutures, iud's, gallstones, and infected teeth. In these cases, bacteria cling to an inactive surface and evade phagocytosis. By contrast, today's quacks claim microbes are hidden in mysterious "biofilms"; it sounds like you've run into this and are right to be suspicious. Talk with a scientific physician.

No.: There is no such biofilm disease. There are certainly chronic and indolent infections, but all infectionsl eventually present with rather characteristic signs and symptoms.
