: Unlikely that sniffing or even slight licking by a cat would transmit staph- more likely, if anything, would be anaerobic bacteria or strep or pasturella (usually an issue with bites) . Rinsing/gargling with antibacterial mouthwash would be worth doing but your risk of anything bad should be very low. See Dr if any symptoms
