A member asked:

Can books and papers etc from 1950s or 70s carry tetanus when locked in a box? i was going through it on the floor and my cat was all over the books and then cat lightly scratched me?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Tetanus can live in soil, dust and manure for 40 years. Unless your cat was in an environment that harbors the bacteria than you will be fine. You are open to cat scratch disease if you get non painful swelling and blisters at scratch site and painful and swollen lymph nodes.
