If you get scleritis from syphilis, but then successfully treat the syphilis, will the scleritis stop? i have scleritis but tested negative for syphilis. any ophthalmologists answer?

I'm not an ophthalmologist, but an STI/syphilis expert. Syphilis rarely causes scleritis at all -- and if it does, the scleritis definitely will clear up entirely when syphilis is cured with drugs or cleared by the immune system. Your negative blood test is proof that something other than syphilis is the cause of scleritis or any other symptoms you may have.

There isn't always an obvious reason it happens, but most of the time, it's caused by an autoimmune disorder (when your body's defense system attacks its own tissues). Some of those that are linked to scleritis include: Rheumatoid arthritis. Lupus. You should have additional blood work to determine the cause which can then help decide the best treatment.
