Hypertension (HTN) is a silent killer which can cause brain, heart and kidney damages. Chronic kidney disease due to long term uncontrolled HTN is called hypertensive nephrosclerosis which can present with high serum BUN and creatinine. Hypertensive nephrosclerosis is a slowly progressive condition. However, acute renal failure with suddenly high BUN and creatinine may occur in malignant HTN.
