Paroxysmal afib,htn.both controlled with meds.cha2ds2-vasc score of 1.healthy and in shape.moderate cardio 4 or 5 times a week for 30 minutes each workout. dr feels im ok w/o blood thinners for now.prefer not to use them until needed. reasonable?

This is not a simple decision. You have hypertension which constitutes 1 risk factor. If you have recurrent episodes of atrial fibrillation, I would consider anticoagulation, particularly if there is evidence of atrial disease by echo or impairment of ventricular function. It has been suggested that the degree of atrial muscle fibrosis may be an important risk factor. I would at least get an echo
