A "six week cycle" may be secondary to polycystic ovarian disease (PCOD), and bleeding may not be a true post-ovulatory event, but breakthrough bleeding from elevated estrogen from ovaries, if ovulation is delayed or absent. Ask your GYN physician about an ultrasound of your pelvis, and about using low dose oral bcp's to stop ovarian estrogen production.
