Good morning, my question is: i lost my sense of taste since 3 weeks ago due to what i'm guessing was covid. i can taste how sour, sweet, spicy, or bitter something is, but i can't taste the actual flavor. any advice on this?

The recovery time varies and if the problem persists an evaluation with ENT is recommended. In the meantime, try various flavors. A COVID-19 vaccination is recommended.

From you description, appears that basic taste functions are preserved, but the more likely answer is loss of sense of smell, which is dysfunction of the olfactory nerve, the source of our ability to sense the subtleties of flavor. Perhaps this is due to COVID-19, but other etiologies can be considered. Contact an otolaryngologist, and see if any new interventions have been used.
