Most HPV infections are acquired age 15-30, so probably you were infected decades ago. Reactivation so many years later is very rare. If it happens, you might be able to transmit to your sex partner(s), but probably it will never happen. And many partners around your age themselves already have HPV 16 or 18, in which case they are immune to new infection. This is nothing to be worried about!
