A member asked:

Is it possible that a lumbar epidural steroid injections could cause bradycardia? if so, would it be permanent or resolve over time?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Epidural steroid injections in the lumbar spine are often done during labor and delivery to manage pain. A transient pulse slowing might ensue if the mother had less pain and agitation. The duration of effect is brief, however, and no permanent cardiovascular effect otherwise would ensue. If there is permanent bradycardia causing concern, a cardiologist might be needed.
