A member asked:

My mother is 48, very lethargic, abdominal pain, shaky, losing weight and muscle rapidly. ast (sgot) - 101 and alt (sgpt) - 211. have doubled since july. doctors ran multiple test can't find the issue. alk phos - 602. 5x what it should be. pleasehelp?

The combination of abdominal pain and elevated alk phos suggests some type of obstruction somewhere in the hepatobiliary tract or gall stone pancreatitis( if elevation of amylase, lipase). Since current physicians on her case haven't been able to make a diagnosis, I recommend consulting a gastroenterologist at a department of gastroenterology at a university hospital or academic center near you.
