My family opened gifts from a family friend, but the friends boyfriend tested pos. for covid and feels sick. they live together and share a bathroom (even w. covid), not sure how much theyre cleaning though. should my family do anything?

The COVID virus is transmitted by breathing air from another person's breath. So unless you have another person infected and you in close quarters with the infected person, there is very little chance to catch this virus. So in your case the answer is: No worries and nothing further needs to be done other than taking the routine preventative precautions.
