A member asked:

Would you consider: (i) hiv pcr quantitative and hiv duo ag/ab lab based (24 days - neg); and (ii) hiv pcr qualitative and 4th gen hiv duo ag/ab (this was lateral flow, point of care, not lab based) (31 days - neg) conclusive of negative status?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

A positive result would be conclusive but a negative result would not rule out HIV infection. Do the testing at 6 weeks or longer after exposure. Visit this site for info: HIV test window periods https://www.cdc.gov/hiv/basics/hiv-testing/test-types.html
