Considering catheter ablation for afib,had lung nodule followed for two years 15 yrs ago with 6 ct scans,several cxr's and two fluoroscopy guided epidurals.worried about to much radiation over the years. any insight would be appreciated. thanks?

The imaging procedures you mentioned would not increase your risk of cancer by an appreciable amount over your background risk. You can reduce your risk of cancer by adopting healthy habits: Eat a mostly vegetarian diet, avoid alcohol, tobacco and street drugs, avoid excessive exposure to sun, exercise 30 minutes each day, drink enough water so your urine is mostly colorless.

Ablation does involve more procedural radiation. If the atrial fibrillation is adequately rate controlled you may be able to avoid ablation if you have no significant symptoms from the atrial fibrillation and your doctor agrees. Determine the indication for ablation . Follow your cardiologist's advise. I wish you good luck.
