A member asked:

Does age-related white matter lesions have different prognosis than white matter lesions due to migraines? or is it a similar disease of different aetiology?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Truly white matter lesions all have very different clinical correlations and prognostic impacts. Age-related leukoaeriosis is most often due to microvascular angiopathy, which is essence correlates with narrowing of blood vessels. The migraine lesions do not necessarily indicate risks but if due to classical migraine, would support females avoiding smoking or female hormones.
