My last period was november 17 to the 23rd. during ovulation which was dec1-4th i noticed a little spotting one day. i had protected intercourse the next day an had light bleeding. had it on and off. i spotted today & period is expected in 2 days?

Since "protected intercourse" may not be a certain preventative for pregnancy, the "light bleeding" may just reflect ovulation of two eggs, with a larger "drop" in estrogen causing "spotting". If your period is delayed, get a serum HCG test to be certain about pregnancy.

Conception occurs within day or so of the sex. It takes about 3 weeks for the embryo to make enough HCG for a positive pregnancy test. Blood test may be done a day after a missed period. Home pregnancy tests should be done 4-5 days after the missed period. If the result is negative repeat the test in 4-5 days. Use first morning urine and follow instructions for the test carefully.
