Bronchitis caused by smoking can persist for long periods, and smokers often keep coughing for months or even years after they stop smoking. It doesn't necessarily mean COPD. And in any case, it's very good you stopped smoking so young. At your age, presumably you haven't smoked more than a few years. COPD can develop in that situation, but mostly it's after 10-20 years smoking or more.

Not necessarily. The damage from smoking may take months to years to clear up. If your cough persists more than 2 weeks, it would be prudent to see a doctor to rule out lung disease.
