A member asked:

After 1st menstruation in 2020, my daughter is 157cm; now 14. can she still grow? she hasn't had a rapid growth. there isnt really a time for her to eat a lot and grow rapidly, is there still a chance to grow 5cm or more; what can she do?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Young women usually continue to grow 2 to 3 years after first menses. Yet the hormonal changes promoting this sign of maturity also hastens the end of bone growth. Most will add 5 cm from that point. A marker for growth potential is the growth plates in an x-ray of the wrist/hand. If open she will grow taller, if closed she is finished.
