You treat the infection with antibiotic +/- surgery then pain resolves when infection is cured. In the meantime, you can take pain pill (analgesic) for inflammatory pain.

Acetaminophen and NSAIDS, such as Ibuprofen are commonly used to treat infection related pain along with antibiotics, pain is usually short lived until infection is contained/ controlled.
