A member asked:

What's the treatment/is there treatment for a patellar bone spur on the dorsal surface? i kneeled on a sharp rock this last summer; now it's palpably bony. it's impeded walking for exercise and resistance work as the v. lateralis gets really painful?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

If symptoms caused by a patella spur don't improve with anti-inflammatory meds like ibuprofen or naproxen, steroid injections or physical therapy then surgical removal via an arthroscopic procedure would be considered. An orthopedic surgeon can evaluate & advise you best.
