A member asked:

My urine does not smell sweet but after 24 hrs without showering, i noticed a sweet smell coming from "down there" before jumping into the shower. i think sugar accumulated from my urine during that period. is that a sign for incoming diabetes?

Urine odor is not affected by sugar in the urine, even if the odor seems "sweet". Urine odor says nothing about whether or not you might have diabetes; only blood tests can make the diagnosis. If you think you might have diabetes for other reasons (strong family history? overweight? excessive urine amounts?), check with your doctor. Good luck.

Relying on smell is not a valid way to test for diabetes. Get your fasting plasma glucose tested at an accredited laboratory. You may also get an A1c test.
