Diagnosis: Strep throat, named after a specific bacteria called beta-hemolytic streptococcus usually does not cause itchy dry throat but significant pain. The diagnosis can be made quickly by what is known as a rapid strep test which most general physicians can perform in their offices. I do not think lice? Are causing this throat problem.

Could be: Your symptoms certainly appear to be consistent with a throat infection, be it viral or bacterial. As it is on the 3rd day, your throat is on fire, and your voice is coming and going, you should go see a dr. For an eval and testing. Good luck.
