Taking "abortion pills" may not result in a completed termination of pregnancy, either leaving placental tissue not expelled, or more seriously not stopping a pregnancy outside the uterus (ectopic). Obtain a serum HCG test to make certain pregnancy has ended, and an ultrasound to determine whether placental tissue is responsible for the bleeding episodes.
