A member asked:

What are some of the reasons my tonsils can start hurting and feel swollen when i swallow?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Your tonsils may be inflamed or infected. Seek an appointment with a primary medical or ENT doctor to rule out infection which may require a culture & antibiotics. If your tonsils are enlarged & inflamed, you may want to also visit a dentist. Chronic mouth breathing can cause inflammation of the tonsils & adenoids. Mouth breathing may be caused by a small jaw &/or restricted oral tissues. Be well!
