A member asked:

Does hashimoto's thyroiditis cause immunosuppression? can prednisone cause latent tb to become active in a patient with chronic sinusitis?

Dr. Ashu Syal answered

Two questions: 1) no hashimoto's thyroiditis is a auto- immune disease which does not cause immune suppression. 2) chronic use of steroids ( prednisone) can cause immune-suppression and can modify response to PPD ( TB test).
