All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, if you drink alcohol, stop entirely, if you are overweight, lose weight, do not take acetaminophen and recheck in 3-4 months. Wish you good health!

Make sure there is followup and proper understanding of what might be causing your increase in liver enzymes. Exercise may help specifically if overweight.

The first step would be to figure out why your AST/ALT are elevated. Viral hepatitis, excess alcohol consumption, being overweight and many other things can result in such a picture. If those numbers are deemed to be elevated because of a Fatty Liver, dietary intervention with regular exercise and Weight loss will certainly help in normalizing those numbers. Sometimes, medications are also needed.
