If the object makes it into the stomach, most will make their way through the GI tract and out within 3-4 days. Feeding them stewed okra or similar food soon after ingestion can create a buffer around the object that aids is its movement. Metallic objects can be located by x-ray, but plastic seldom can. Monitor the symptoms and wait.

Whether he should be seen depends on the size and shape of the object swallowed. Call your son's physician and let him/her make that decision with you. You would be advised to save his bowel movements for the next 3-4 days and carefully go through his stool until you locate the swallowed object, proving that it hs safely passed.

If object was small he should pass it in stool. If stomach cramps occur than take him to a GASTROENTEROLOGIST for an x-ray of area to locate the object.
