With regular cycles prior to "heavy bleeding for five days" beginning "7 days after the cycle (period)", and pregnancy is possible, a pregnancy outside the uterus (ectopic) needs to be ruled out: obtain a serum HCG to be certain about pregnancy. This bleeding can also occur with polyps or polycystic ovarian syndrome, so see your GYN physician for an exam and other testing.

Menstrual irregularities are not uncommon and anovulatory cycle is a common cause. If you miss more than two periods it would be time to see your doctor. If you do not wish to be pregnant, use contraception all the time. You may consider implanted contraceptive or an IUD.
