A member asked:

Who should i see about this. i have pain in the right side of my jaw, and after relaxing for a while (like if i'm asleep), my molars on my right side no longer touch when i bite. i can fix it temporarily by gently pressing my jaw back in place?

Start with your regular dentist. A sub specialist, such as an oral surgeon may be helpful to evaluate TMJ issues, which seems to be your described problem. A nocturnal dental splint may be fabricated.

Your dentist may be able to treat you or will refer you to a specialist in Temporal Mandibular Disorders. Treatment is finding the cause why your bite is off & then stabilizing with a splint (night-guard). There is a disc-ligament between your lower jaw & your skull that may slip out of place. Take smaller bites of food, avoid gum, warm compress & taking an anti-inflammatory like Motrin will help
