My symptoms: very red throat, postnasal drip, feels like a lump in my throat when swallowing. no strep, no fever. i don't have allergies that i know of but dr said allergies (?) can allergies give me such a red throat? it's very raw. cbc good?

Most non-strep sore throats are triggered by viruses (like mono) bur can be triggered by irritants (Dust/allergies/dry air/inhaling fumes/etc.). Strep is one of the only causes that would benefit from antibiotics. The other are treated with comfort measures.

An allergic reaction should be considered since you have no fever and are experiencing difficulty swallowing. Please see urgent care, consider a COVID-19 test. Viral pharyngitis is another possibility, but an extremely red throat should be further defined.
