My son was recently treated in the ed for kidney stones what is a good plan to follow now that he is discharged?

Try his best to get the stone with a strainer during voiding in the next couple days. If successful, give it to the doctor who will take care him for stone analysis. You did not give us the info about the CT result which is usually done when renal colic is suspected. He needs to void more than 2 liters a day. Follow with a urologist or nephrologist for preventing the recurrence.

your info is incomplete. Did he pass the stone? At age 16 for kidney stone he should have an evaluation by a Urologist. In the meantime drink plenty of water.
