A member asked:

What do people generally do when living in a very small town far away from a metropolitan area having the so called better proton/radiation & other cancer treatments via a hospital connected with a medical school? do they relocate for all the apnt's?

??So called ?? A bit of sarcasm there. There are many well qualified radiation oncologists located around the country. Subspecialty care does require a large population base to fund the equipment & manpower. Affiliation with a med school may or may not be a regional fact. Patients with family support/transportation may travel for treatments, some relocate. Each case is different.

Speak with your oncologist. If effective therapy requires travel, go.
