A member asked:

In the morning or after a prolonged period of laying flat, when i take a deep breath i feel a sharp pain in my abdomen almost through to my spine, that goes away when i release the breath. what could that be?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

This is an unusual complaint, and without other spinal complaints of deformity, weakness or incontinence, it is unlikely a spinal problem. Your deep breath could change the position of a hiatal hernia (affecting the stomach). Please see a physician and be evaluated for your diaphragm as the source of your concern.
