Could possibly be an inflamed nerve, could also be a necrotic tooth. Radiographs don't always show every issue. Have an endodontist take a look if your general dentist cannot find a cause.

Tooth my be slightly out of position because of the other work you had done. If so, it may be sensitive due to hyper function. The tooth may be fractured, or the nerve the tooth may be compromised. Consultation with an Endodontist may be advisable.

I would reach back out to your dentist. There are a variety of potential differential diagnosis and a new X-ray may show more after 3 months. Bone changes around a tooth with an unhealthy nerve can take months to appear. A 3D X-ray(CBCT) would be the gold standard to help visualize the anatomy to help diagnose your pain.
