I would recommend stopping the current pack, allowing your body to have a period and then start a new pack of birth control pills. Try setting an alarm reminder in your phone to help remember to take your pills every day. Or put them by your toothbrush so that when you brush your teeth everyday, it is a good reminder to take your pills. If you keep having irregular bleeding, see your doctor.

It is best for you to stop the OCP completely and wait to see if your period is coming each month or continues to be irregular. At 47 you could be starting menopause and having irregularity of periods. If your periods go back to being regular that is a good sign. If not then you need to be evaluated by a Gyn and possibly need an endometrial biopsy to rule out malignancy
